In last night’s first season-ending episode of Aaron Sorkin’s much criticized new HBO series, The Newsroom, the central character, a TV news anchor played by Jeff Daniels, does what one might hope a real anchor might do someday for real. The character, it should be noted, is a Republican.
Here is a rare favorable review of the show.
My opinion? Somewhat overwrought and often focused on silly personal stories nobody cares about (this could change with a long run that allows viewers to identify with the characters) but highly entertaining and (granted, the show reflects my political viewpoints more often than not) a satisfying Sunday night watch.
