The House is a little over a month away from being certifiably flat out bonkers. I believe the ascension of Ron Paul to the chairmanship of the House Financial Services subcommittee on monetary policy which oversees the Federal Reserve has brought us to the edge there.

The Senate, due to its arcane rules and silly ass privileges for members, may be the most useless legislative body in human history (proved that again today while shooting down “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the end result of which will be the passing of DADT by judicial fiat sometime in the coming year, the worst possible way for it to happen).

We are about to embark on the second decade of the 21st Century. It has been a long run and it would really be nice to believe the nation will survive, but that does require a leap of faith at this point.
